Swimming Pool Closes Early
Upon recommendation from the Johnson County Environmental Department, the Bentwood swimming pool will be closed for the remainder of the 2011 season.
The pool is being closed as a precautionary measure to guard against the spread of cryptosporidium, a parasite that can be spread in several different ways. Water (drinking water and recreational water) is the most common method of transmission. Cryptosporidium is one of the most frequent causes of waterborne disease among humans in the United States. The most common symptom of cryptosporidium is diarrhea.
Although no confirmed cases of cryptosporidium have been identified at the Bentwood pool, the Board of Directors, in consultation with the County Environmental Department, Home Association Solutions LLC, the association’s management company, and the association’s pool maintenance vendor, has determined that closing the pool for the remainder of the 2011 season is the most prudent course of action.
Given the recent outbreak of cryptosporidium and the ease with which this parasite spreads, we believe this is the most appropriate way to help provide a safe, fun environment for members and their guests.

Roofing Materials
Many residents have inquired as to what type of roofs are allowed in Bentwood. While you still need to submit an application, shake shingle roofs and "weathered wood" composition shingles are prevelant throughout the community. If you would like to install slate or tile (or any other material), please submit an application for consideration.
